IIUM KLM Pagoh lifestyle
Well well well. Looks like who came to the deserted part of Johor? I'm just kidding. (not really)
My first thoughts on the Pagoh Edu Hub is that wherever you go, the sun will be seeping beneath your skin for 24/7. Since it's a new environment, it's understandable to see trees as tall as your 155cm friends and of course the insufficient amount of cafes need to be issued here right now.
Bandar University Pagoh literally just consists of UTHM, IIUM UTM and PoliTeknik. And I ended up in UIA Pagoh due to my course major which is English for International Communication(ENCOM) - because the 4 course majors which are MALCOM, ENCOM, PTHM and ARCOM are placed in Kuliyyah of Languages Management. When I first arrived here, I could see my future taking the part time job as a pekerja ladang kelapa sawit. Why? Because the palm trees are literally the only trees that has surrounded this area. The buildings here are beautiful no doubt, but it's still lacking in many areas that needs to be improved ASAP.
1. Cafe
For now, in IIUM Pagoh there's literally only 1 cafe in the kuliyyah and 1 cafe in the mahallah. There are like a few shop lots that are opened for example 7-Eleven(thank god), 2 kedai makan and 3 tempat basuh baju(dobi). There's still an option to venture in the UTHM area for their cafes but that is only when we're desperate for food.
2. Transportation.
So far in a week, what I can tell that there's only 2 buses available to be able to transport you from the mahallah to the kuliyyah. And walking to the kuliyyah is not a great idea as I can presume it will take you about 20-30 minutes destination under the hot sun. Bringing your own vehicle such as a motorcycles, bicycles and cars are high advisable. Just in case you want to jalan2 because there's not much in the nearby area.
3. Going back home is quite hard. You may buy the tickets online but you have to travel either to Muar or Batu Pahat to arrive at the bus departure location. Some people say that once you buy the tickets, you can to contact the bus driver to pick you up from Pekan Pagoh(I have not tried any of these methods yet)
FYI, there's no Grab car services within the Edu Hub but we do have transporters.
4. Hot environment
Like I said, the insufficient amount of trees(and their slow growing rate) does really not help the weather here. What should you do? Bring tons of suncreen and umbrellas and pray to Allah for rain because I haven't really seen a single drop from the sky in my current 2 weeks stay.
5. Lack of facilities
You get the point with that one point so I don't see the means to elaborate this point.
And it is to be expected as the Edu Hub in Pagoh is still new.
Please take note that improvements in this area are still OTW so there might be some good changes happening. And if it does, you can look forward to my latest post.
